THE DEFENDING champion Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) took the top spot in the secondary division of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. football competition via a 9-0 demolition of the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) yesterday at the Cebu City Sports Center.

After four games, the Magis Eagles now have the lead over erstwhile leader Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC).

While both teams hold the same records of three wins and one draw, SHS-AdC holds the lead with its 13-point goal difference. DBTC has 12.

In yesterday’s game, Wilmer Lopez scored a hattrick for the Magis Eagles in the 51st, 76th and 80th minutes of the game.

SHS-AdC started the game with luck favoring them as their first score came from USJ-R’s own goal, which was credited to Dale Oberes.

The Magis Eagles ended the first half with a 4-0 advantage off the USJ-R own goal and goals from Iñigo Ugarte, Bertram Musni and Michael Melasa.

The junior Jaguars never found the back of the net in the second half while Lopez scored his hattrick.

The rest of the goals were scored by Miguel Mongaya and JM Kwan.
