Pagasa sees cooler days in early February
MANILA, Philippines — The beginning of February is forecast to be chilly as the northeast monsoon or “amihan” continues to be felt in the eastern part of Luzon.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Saturday that the surge of amihan would affect parts of the country, in particular the eastern section.
The temperature in Baguio City is expected to be between 12 to 22 degrees Celsius on Sunday, and 13 to 24 the following days.
Metro Manila is also forecast to experience cooler weather, between 22 to 29 degrees Celsius from Sunday to Wednesday.
Tuguegarao City will be colder at 19 to 26 degrees.
Cloudy skies and light rain are expected to prevail in the Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, while the rest of Luzon, including Metro Manila, is forecast to experience fair weather.
Satellite imagery of the weather service also showed that cloud formations have extended to Visayas and Mindanao. Light rain is expected in the eastern section of Visayas while Mindanao will have fair weather and isolated rain.
Gale warning has been raised in the eastern seaboard of the country and the north western coast of Luzon due to the strong surge of amihan.
Pagasa warned small sea vessels not to go out to sea as waves are forecast to be between 2.8 to 6 meters high.
