Mandaue City to strictly implement health protocols
MANDAUE CITY, Philippines – A stricter implementation of health protocols will be implemented in Mandaue City to address the rising cases of COVID-19 in the city.
Police Major Mercy Villaro, the spokesperson of the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO), said that they’ve discussed the rise in the city’s COVID-19 cases and the steps to be taken to control it during the coordination meeting held on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, with the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), Department of Health (DOH), and the Mandaue City Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI),
Villaro said they will create a composite team composed of the above-mentioned agencies to strengthen the implementation of health protocols.
Villaro added that the MCPO will conduct frequent monitoring and roving around the city and arrest violators.
She added they will also have inspections of the public transportation such as buses, traditional and modernized jeeps, among others, to ensure that the minimum health standards are being followed.
It was also discussed with the business sector the tightening of measures to be implemented to prevent the further rise of COVID-19 cases. One of their priorities, Villaro said, is to reprimand business establishments that will violate the protocols.
Lawyer Lizer Malate, EOC and Business Processing and Licensing Office (BPLO) head, said they have already reprimanded and sent notices of violation with notice to explain to several business establishments in the city. /rcg
