LAPU-LAPU CITY, Philippines — The Lapu-Lapu City government plans to conduct a quarterly blood donation drive.

Cindi Chan, chairperson of the City Tourism Cultural and Historical Commission, said that this would be done to cope with the demand for patients, who would need blood, in the city.

“Wan-a man gud ta’y supply gud. Nihit na gyud kaayo ba. So sakto ra gyud to nga kuan ug mas maayo gani nga every quarter mag-blood donation drive gyud ta,” Chan said.

(We don’t have enough supply of blood. It is so scarce. So it is proper to do it that every quarter we have a blood donation drive.)

Chan is also a board of directors of the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) in Lapu-Lapu City and Cordova Chapter.

She said that they successfully collected 75 bags of blood, out of 97 individuals who signed up for their registration form.

Chan also revealed that the majority of the donors yesterday were women.

“Kadaghanan babaye ang successful nga naka-donate,” she said, adding that there were also policemen and tricycle drivers who participated in the blood donation campaign.

(Women were mostly the ones who successfully donated their blood.)
