Pusok SK councilors submit resignation letter to Mayor Chan
LAPU-LAPU CITY, Philippines — The seven Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) councilors in Barangay Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City, have already submitted their resignation to the office of Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan.
Earlier, the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) pointed out that the SK officials should have addressed their resignation to the mayor to consider it valid, and not to their SK Chairperson and the Barangay Captain.
The SK officials who resigned have also sent a notification to DILG Lapu-Lapu City regarding their resignation.

Chan, however, said on Monday, March 22, that he had not yet seen the resignation letter and that he would check it first with his staff.
The mayor also said that he would sit down again with these SK officials, together with the barangay captain and their SK chairman to discuss the reasons why they decided to step down from their post.
“Makig sit-down ta with the SK councilors, together with the Barangay Council sa Pusok. Ako gani silang giingnan what is their reason nga ni-tender sila ug resignation. Ibutang nila ang ilang mga issues and concerns with regards sa ilang Barangay ug SK Chairman,” Chan said.

Aside from the SK councilors, the SK treasurer and SK secretary of the barangay have also resigned from their posts.
Chan said that if these SK officials would not change their minds, he would be asking the Barangay Captain of Pusok to endorse names for their replacements so that he could appoint the new SK officials in the barangay.
Their SK Chairwoman, Laika Tampus, who is also the SK Federation president in Lapu-lapu City and an ex-officio member in the city council, has remained silent on the issue.
