For trying to avoid hitting a victim of hit-and-run, a 39-year-old man who was driving his motorcycle was hit by an SUV that was tailing him and is now in critical condition.

Napoleon Dimpas was on his way to pay the first amortization of his new motorcycle when a motorcycle driven by Jeffrey Terante fell on its side while traversing Ouano Ave., North Reclamation Area in Mandaue City yesterday morning.

Terante was a victim of hit-and-run by another motorcycle.

To avoid hitting Terante, Dimpas slowed down but he was reportedly hit by a Mitsubishi Pajero driven by one Sherwin Ando Baguio, 42, of Cordova, Cebu.

As a result of the impact, Dimpas was thrown from his motorcycle and landed on another motorcycle that was passing nearby.

Baguio denied that he hit Dimpas saying the victim already fell on the ground before he (Baguio) hit him (Dimpas).

But PO2 Ruben Cendena said one Rommel Ramos, who happened to be standing by the roadside, witnessed the accident and confirmed that Dimpas was hit by the Pajero.

Dimpas was brought to Chong Hua Hospital and was still unconscious as of press time.

He has undergone x-ray examination and he has injuries in his right shoulder and left thigh.
Baguio went to the hospital and promised to shoulder Dimpas’ hospital expenses.

On the other hand, Terante was brought to Mandaue City Hospital and was later discharged.
