Defending champions Goldberry Iloilo Hotel won their third straight game after they eked past the Cebu Landmasters, 60-56, in the Avenir Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association (SHAABAA) Cup basketball tournament held last Sunday at the Magis Eagles Arena in Canduman, Mandaue City.

Goldberry started off strong and led, 21-7, before the Landmasters made their way back into the game in the second period with a huge 17-5 run to trail by just two, 24-26, at halftime.

However, Goldberry asserted itself in the second half behind the inside-out scoring of siblings Jeremy and Justin Huang and Dave Ting to register its third win in four games.

Jeremy Huang led the winners with 16 points, Ting added 13 while Justin Huang chipped in 10 to send the Landmasters to their second loss against a lone win.

In other games in Division A, the Gaisano Capital remained unbeaten in four games after routing Colours, 77-59.

Another team that remained undefeated were the Insular Square Titans, who clobbered the RDAK Stallions, 69-53.

Beaver Sandals (1-2), meanwhile, broke through for its first win of the season with a 50-47 victory over San Jose Bakeshop. Colours and San Jose Bakeshop remained at the bottom of the field as they share identical 0-3 (win-loss) records.

In Division B, the Belo Men 98 and RDAK Transporters padded their records to 4-0 and 3-0, respectively, without breaking a sweat as they logged in default victories. Echo Appliance (2-1) also slipped past White Gold Club 96 (0-3), 46-42.
