Guard shoots ‘robber’, hides body in septic tank

By: Norman V. Mendoza August 14,2014 - 08:52 AM

A security guard in Mandaue City surrendered to the police after admitting that he shot and killed a  suspected robber and hid  the body in a septic tank.

The guard, Marvin Villagarcia, 20, said he caught  the unidentified man stealing cable wires and a steel ladder  inside M1 Business Center on Ouano Ave. in Mandaue City where he was assigned.

He said the intruder was  armed with a .357 caliber pistol and aimed it at him when he called the man’s attention.

Villagarcia said he grappled with the man for the gun and shot the suspect twice. The security guard claimed he did not have his issued firearm with him at the time.

The guard said he later dumped the body in the  establishment’s septic tank, hoping nobody would notice. He didn’t  report the violence to his supervisor in the BISDA Security Agency until employees started complaining of a foul smell in the comfort room.

Villagarcia later confessed to his supervisor, Ronald Zabate, who brought him to the Subangdaku Police Station on Tuesday.  The body of the unidentified victim was recovered and brought to Cebu Rolling Hills.
