9th University Run off today at CDU Mandaue campus
The 9th University Run will blast off at 4 a.m. today at the Cebu Doctors University (CDU) campus at the North Reclamation Area of Mandaue City.
The race drew 3,500 runners including celebrity couple Karylle and Yael Yuzon and will feature four categories – 25-kilometer, 13k, 6k and 3k.
The 25k run will pass through three bridges: Marcelo Fernan, the old Mandaue-Mactan and Cansaga while the 13k race will only pass through the first two bridges.
One of race’s attractions is the contest for the best water/aid station. According to lead organizer and running patron Dr. Potenciano “Yong” Larrazabal III, CDU students who will man the stations will also entertain the passing runners.
Finishers in the 13k and 25k will receive a specially designed finishers medal while the top winners will receive cash.
Proceeds of the race will be used to finance the various charity works of Larrazabal’s Run For Sight Foundation.
