Guard shoots ’Thief’; surrenders

By: Melissa Q. Cabahug September 11,2014 - 02:59 AM

A security guard at the Cebu Business Park surrendered yesterday after shooting a teenager.

Virgilio Amaro, 33, said he heard noise at the warehouse and saw Kirby Quiao, 18, taking away electrical wires and metals.

The teenager ran. The guard fired a warning shot, but Quiao only ran faster.
Amaro shot him twice, hitting him in the back and waist.

SP01 Ruth Violango, homicide investigator, said Amaro shouldn’t have shot Quiao who was not armed.

Amaro said he was only doing his job in guarding the property against thieves.
