A total of 19 of 24 consultants who worked for the administration of Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III for the first half of 2014 will be retained for the rest of the year.
The Cebu Provincial Board (PB) on Monday approved the July to December contracts of the consultants which provide a salary of P26,000 a month.
The list did not include the governor’s uncle, Dr. Romulo Davide.
However, the award-winning agriculture expert will continue as a one-peso-a-year adviser and lead the province’s Farmer Scientists Trainining Program, said Provincial Information Officer Ethel Natera.
She said the elder Davide will sign his consultancy contract at the Office of the Governor today with Provincial Agriculturist Roldan Saragena.
Romulo Davide, a 2012 Ramon Magsaysay awardee, championed the rural agricultural program that had scientists teach farmers modern agricultural techniques for better crop production.
Baltazar Tribunalo, Task Force Paglig-on chief, is no longer listed as a consultant on climate and disaster risk management because he was given a regular position in the Cebu provincial government two weeks ago.
Authority
Davide appointed Tribunalo as head of the province’s disaster risk reduction and management office (PDRRMO) last May replacing Neil Sanchez.
Last Monday, the PB gave Davide authority to enter and renew the consultancy contracts under his office.
The previous six-month appointments were effective from January 1 until June 30 this year.
Aside from the governor’s office, each PB member is entitled to hire one consultant. Their contracts were ratified by the board last August.
