CEBU CITY, Philippines — The number of stranded passengers in Cebu grew on Monday, April 11 as bad weather due to Tropical Depression Agaton (international name: Megi) lingers.
Based on the latest report from the Philippine Coast Guard in Central Visayas (PCG-7), a total of 17 sea trips bound for and from Cebu have been cancelled as of 12 noon on Monday.
As a result, 371 individuals or passengers were left stranded in various ports in the island province, up from 286 last Sunday, April 10.
PCG-7 has also recorded a total of 99 rolling cargoes whose voyages were suspended due to bad weather.
At least 20 localities in Cebu remain under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 as Agaton continues to bring moderate to heavy rains in most parts of the Visayas.
These are the towns of San Francisco, Tudela, Pilar and Poro in Camotes Islands, Daanbantayan, San Remigio, Medellin, Tabogon, Borbon, Sogod, Catmon, Carmen, Compostela, Liloan, and the cities of Danao and Bogo.
Agaton was last spotted at 1 p.m. over the coasts of Marabut, Samar, packing wind speeds of up 45 kilometers per hour (kph), and gustiness reaching 60 kph.
