Cepca October tilt on

A total of P10,000 cash will be up for grabs when the Cebu Professionals Chess Association (Cepca) 2014 Monthly Qualifying Tournament October Edition takes off today at 2 p.m. at the Handuraw-Pizza-Gorordo.

The tournament will follow a five-round Swiss System with a Handicapping Time Control.

Tournament champion will receive P2,000 in the competition sponsored by US-based Cepcans Jojo Clamor Don-Don, Mitch Vergara and Gilbert Ababat.

Aside from cash prizes, also at stake  is a slot for the December Tournament of Champions.

Spicing-up the event are the seven invited lady varsity players from different Cebu universities.

They are Jessa Balbona, Aireen Robillos and Jazelle Villarin from the University of San Jose-Recoletos, KC Morala and Shaira Mae Monsalud from the University of San Carlos and University of Cebu’s Marvie Abucay and Queenelyn Torres.

Among those who are already assured of slots in the December battle  are January winner Jimmy Ty Jr., Carlo Maraat (February), Tony Cabibil (March), Rosendo Yamyamin (April), Rey Flores (May), Peterson Sia (June),  Cadiz (July), Jerry Maratas (August) and Harrison Chua (September).
