CEBU CITY, Philippines — The Ronald O’lshoppe outlasted the VDrink-Yoyis Pastries Spartans, 144-123, in Group B’s hardcourt action of the Metro Cebu Basketball League (MCBL) last Saturday at the Benedicto College Gymnasium.
The high-scoring showdown between the two teams capped off with Ronald O’lshoppe clinching their third win in the tournament, while the Spartans suffered their third defeat.
Both teams are now tied at 3-3 (win-loss) record in Group B’s standings along with TayTing’s Pastries.
After the grueling match, Emmanuel Villamor emerged as the player of the game for his superb 46-point outing with 8 rebounds and 1 assist.
Rey Gonzaga contributed 21 points for Ronald O’lshoppe with 4 boards and 2 assists.
Five other players from Ronald O’lshoppe scored double-digits in the game.
Jake Emerson Diamante also scored 46 points, but these were not enough to carry the Spartans on the winning side. Diamante paired it with 9 rebounds and 5 assists.
Like their opponents, the Spartans had also five other players scoring double digits.
Another high-scoring game highlighted last Saturday’s action as Truck N’ Trail beat the Webhosting Titans,142-101, in Group F.
Truck N’ Trail improved to a 5-1 (win-loss) slate in Group F, while the Titans remained winless with six straight defeats.
Miko Pahugot led Truck N’ Trail with 37 points, nine rebounds and five assists. His teammate Rannel Cortes had a double-double outing of 26 wins, 13 rebounds, and 3 assists.
The Titans’ Edison Amacanin scored 31 points, with 7 rebounds, and 5 assists.
Over at the City Sports Club Cebu, Sentra Plastics beat TayTing’s, 69-61, while TSO & Co. edged Brownian Records, 101-97, and Lite Shipping nipping Aquilla, 81-70.
At the Alta Vista Golf & Country Club, Sherilin Plastics manhandled Structure Wizards,103-54, while Tech Mahindra bested Angkol Breakers, 61-53.
