Coastal clean-up drive, grand caravan held in Cebu City
CEBU CITY, Philippines — Various agencies here have participated in the early morning coastal clean-up drive on Friday, July 22, 2022, at the South Road Properties in Cebu City.
Aside from the early morning clean-up drive, personnel from these agencies also participated in a grand caravan, wherein several agencies offered free services to the public. This includes free processing of police clearance, free circumcision for boys, dental services, legal consultation, and notarial services, among others.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Janette Rafter, deputy director for operations of the Cebu City Police Office, said that they estimated around 1,500 individuals who participated in Friday’s activity. These are personnel from the Cebu City Police Office, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine Coast Guard, National Police Commission, Department of Energy and Natural Resources, and Bureau of the Jail Management and Penology (BJMP-7), civilian counterparts, among others.
Rafter said this activity is among the activities that they have for the 27th celebration of the Police Community Relations (PCR) month. The police had their kick-off ceremony of the PCR Month last July 4 in Naga City.
“I think sa tanan pod ni nga agencies pod ang pagpanghilabot sa atoang community kase ang PNP is for public safety, includes cleanliness sa ato katilingban,” Rafter said.
“We also have volunteers, especially sa atoang mga divers because they will also be conducting Scubasurero,” she added.
