Beware of fake priests

To make sure that you  don’t deal with imposters dressed as priests,  Msgr. Ruben Labajo, team moderator of the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral, yesterday advised people to coordinate with parish or cemetery offices.

“No Catholic priest would  walk around cemeteries looking for people who would ask him to say Mass in exchange for money,” he said.

“All priests have prior schedules for November 1 and 2.  Masses are held at cemetery chapels, or, in some cases, at the mausoleum of people who invited their friend-priests to say Mass for their departed loved ones,” he added.

“If that person wearing a sutana (cassock) asks for money, that is a fake priest. So  be careful.”

“ You should go directly to parish offices to avoid getting duped by people going    around the cemeteries,” he said.
