Sugbu Tri Series to stage final race in Dalaguete; heavy 2015 sked bared
The three-part Sugbu Triathlon Tri Team Series will conclude on Feb. 7 next year in Dalaguete town, south Cebu.
The final leg will feature some of Cebu’s best triathletes including Parklane Tri Team’s Kristianne Lim and Lorhiz Echavez Lopez who are leading the individual standings after two legs.
Team Parklane A and Team Parklane B are also leading the team rankings in the race organized by Sugbu Triathlon.
Team Parklane A is manned by Lim, Emmanuel Comendador, Ralph Arce, Hannah Lou Galo, Alan Ting and Lovely Casidsid.
Team B is composed of Joy Libre, Marlon Galo, Stephen Cagulada, Robert Paul Martinez, Johnny Fernez and Boris Mag-aso.
Meanwhile, Dalaguete tourism officer Almar Villahermosa said his townmates are very thankful to Sugbu Triathlon for bringing the concluding leg to their town as this is a big boost to their tourism thrust. He also vowed his town’s full support to the triathlon race.
“We assure you of our town’s full support,” said Villahermosa during yesterday’s press conference at the Fuente Pension House. He was joined by Sugbu Triathlon race director Benjoe Gimenez along with Anton Regis and Jesse Ariola.
The standard race will feature a 1.5-kilometer swim, 40k bike and 10k run while the sprint distance will offer a 750m swim, 20k bike and 5k run which is the same distance with the relay category. There will also be a kiddies category.
2015 TRIATHLON SKED
Sugbu Triathlon also bared the official line-up of triathlon events for 2015. The first leg of the Sugbu Triathlon Tri Team Series will be on May 29 in Santa Fe, Bantayan Island while the second leg will be on Sept. 13 in Ronda. The final leg will be on Oct. 4 in Ormoc City with the Dipolog Triathlon 102 slated on May 9-10.
“Expect an action-packed line-up of triathlon races next year starting February. We will also adopt changes to improve the race,” Gimenez said.
Registration for the final leg of the Tri Team Series in Dalaguete is already ongoing with registration fees pegged at P2,000 for the standard distance, P1,800 for the sprint and P1,500 per person in the relay and kiddies categories. Registration fee will increase after Dec. 15.
