Apparently, General Alan Purisima was hell-bent on clinging to his position as chief of the Philippine National Police. After the Office of the Ombudsman suspended him, he sought legal relief from the Court of Appeals to try and stop the order. I am happy though, that his boss, Interior Secretary Mar Roxas, declared that Purisima has been suspended in compliance with the order of the Office of the Ombudsman.
It is time for Purisima to go. With his involvement in many issues, he is no longer considered an asset to the administration of President Noynoy Aquino. Surprisingly, the President has been silent about Purisima’s ordeal. Aquino may be allowing the DILG Secretary to facilitate the graceful exit of the director general. Purisima should realize that nobody is indispensable in public service, more so in Aquino’s administration.
The President could no longer afford to retain the services of Purisima because it would be contrary to his “daang matuwid” policy.

I really pity Roxas now that he lags far behind in the latest survey of possible contenders for the 2016 presidential race.
He fell from the number 2 spot to sixth place, with Binay still on top followed by Sen. Grace Poe.
The Liberal Party may be seriously looking for an outsider to be its standard bearer in the 2016 presidential race and could be seriously taking a second look at Grace Poe. I wouldn’t blame them. What’s foremost in the minds of LP members is their political survival.
I don’t know what is wrong with the public image of Roxas. Apparently, he lacks connectivity with the people. What he does only becomes the subject of jokes and ridicule, the latest of which was his accidental fall from the motorcycle he was riding in Samar.
Let me put it this way: There is no question that Mar Roxas is the most qualified and competent of the presidential candidates for 2016 and has shown that he can sacrifice for the country, the way he gave up his presidential ambition in the last election for Aquino.
Roxas is a selfless politician, unlike many others in the country today. There is no question also that Roxas is an honest person with integrity and credibility, a must for a president. He has the educational background, especially in economics, after graduating in the US and working in New York.
It is not yet too late for Roxas to rebuild his image. He has the money to do so. He may get some expert advice from his connections in the States and avail of expert services there to shore up his public image.
I don’t see any difficulty for him to do so. He has all the qualifications to become an honest president and boost his chances for 2016.
The Liberal Party and Noynoy Aquino shouldn’t give up on Mar Roxas yet.
It’s too early. Give him a chance to do something to improve his image.
