The Cebu City government  will release tomorrow   the P2,000 balance of the 2014 cash aid due to its qualified and registered senior residents.

The disbursement of the cash aid will be done in barangay halls from 8 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, Jan. 28.

Those who failed to collect their share when City Hall distributed P3,000 last Dec. 22   have until Feb. 11 to collect the amount, City Administrator Lucelle Mercado said.

“We will give them a chance to claim their P3,000 at the City Treasurer’s Office (CTO),” she said.

Qualified and registered elderly residents of the city are entitled to receive P12,000 last year from City Hall under its social welfare program.  City Hall distributed P3,000, representing the second to the last tranche of the cash assistance, last Dec. 22 and promised to release the balance after Sinulog or by the 3rd week of January. Mercado said that because of the need to catch up with the closure of the city’s book of accounts last Dec. 31, the City Treasurer’s Office only scheduled  one day to distribute the cash aid.

An estimated 1,700 senior citizen beneficiaries failed to collect their allowance last December.

City hall is allocating a total of P120 million for the release of cash assistance which will be made in the barangays from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.
