A 36-year-old suspected drug dealer thought wearing a bulletproof vest would save him from harm when he  tried to complete a deal in barangay Poblacion, Danao City.

But Rey Piamonte, 36, was shot in the head, killing him instantly. Police said he tried to resist lawmen who caught him handing over a plastic pack of shabu to two men.

PO3 Nelson Pantoja said they received a call at around 3 a.m. reporting the presence of armed men along F. Ralota St.

Responding police said they saw Piamonte transacting a shabu sale with  Lee Rota, 33, and Niño Sabalande, 26.

Piamonte allegedly  drew his gun and shot at the policemen, who returned fire, hitting his chest and head.

The two other men were later cornered. A .38 cal. revolver and a pack of shabu was  recovered from Piamonte.
