Search for model journalists reaches Visayas

The Metrobank Foundation Inc. is inviting media practitioners from the Visayas to participate in this year’s search for Journalists of the Year (JOY).

Now on its second year, the national award recognizes excellence in Philippine journalism.

During a Visayas launch yesterday in Cebu City, foundation president Aniceto Sobrepeña said they look forward to seeing more entries from the region which has great stories to share.

Qualified journalists must be Filipino citizens who have worked in the media  for at least ten years and must be practicising in any medium — print, radio, television, online – on a regular basis as a primary source of income.   A screening committee will review five of a nominee’s best stories that were published or broadcast between Jan. 1, 2004 to Dec. 31, 2014.

Deadline for submission of nomination forms is on April 30, 2015.  Three journalists will be selected to receive a P300,000 cash prize and will be invited to share their experience through professorial lectures around the country. The first batch of winners in 2001 had   Sheila Coronel, Jessica Soho  of GMA 7 and the late Armando Malay.
