PBA champ Mark Barroca holds basketball clinics in Cebu
CEBU CITY, Philippines — Former Gilas Pilipinas guard and six-time PBA champion Mark Barroca surprised Cebuano youngsters on Sunday, August 27, after he conducted a one-day basketball clinic in various parts of Cebu.
The 37-year-old Barroca of the Magnolia Hotshots flew from Manila to Cebu to visit various locations to conduct his basketball clinic that was named after him.
Barroca was seen watching the United States take on New Zealand in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 on Saturday evening at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. After the game, Barroca flew to Cebu to conduct a fruitful basketball clinic here.
He first visited the Sisters of Mary School-Boystown in Minglanilla town where he met with a huge fan, Rodney Aldoseja, who is an alumni of SMS-Boystown.
Barroca gave Aldoseja a pair of basketball shoes and a signed jersey in recognition of his dedication as the school’s official driver, sound operator, and a 3×3 basketball head coach of one of the school’s teams.
After his Minglanilla clinic, Barroca headed to the SMS-Girltown in Talisay City, where he paid a courtesy call to the school’s superior, Sr. Belinda Sacayan.
The PBA star wrapped up his one-day visit with another basketball clinic that was held at an open court in Barangay Ipil, Carmen, north Cebu.
Barroca taught the participants of his clinic various drills, including skills, dribbling, and agility training, with the hopes of discovering potential talents that can follow his footsteps in basketball.
