Mayor warns employees: Oppose me at your own risk

Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama said City Hall employees who are against him should be prepared to resign or be transferred to another department.

“If they want my head,  I will have to face them. Whether you like it or not,  everybody should be clear about what position they’re going to pick. Their position or my position,” Rama said during yesterday’s press conference.

He said he only wants to eliminate any division within his administration.

“I am destroying dividers. Because divisions for me are obstruction. And just like in public service whoever one practically becomes an obstruction,” he said.

Asked by reporters if was doing a loyalty check, Rama replied “No this is not loyalty check this is just a reality check.”

He said he can’t be blamed for going after those who oppose him, saying there are critics who are after his head.

“They must be effective somewhere. If they are destructive, we don’t need them. If they want to resign,  resign.  If they don’t, then they will be transferred to a position where they can be effective and not destructive,” Rama said.
