Blakeley’s Motorcare beats Chef Chang

BATCH 1996-Blakeley’s Motorcare charged back from a 19-point first quarter deficit to flatten Batch 2007-Chef Chang, 74-67, last Thursday in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association (Cecaba) 14th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup at the CEC Gym.

With Juan Carlo Espada scoring 11 of his 13 points in the first period, Batch 2007 started out like a house on fire and built a mammoth 30-11 lead at the end of the quarter.

Batch ’96 quickly returned the favor, holding Batch 2007 to just six points in next period while scoring 21 of its own to move within 32-36 at the half.

Batch ’96 picked up where it left off in the second period, sustaining its sizzling form and launched an 18-11 assault to surge ahead, 50-47.

Batch ’96 sealed its third win in five games by finishing off Batch 2007 with a game-closing 24-20 run.

Rex Alinson topped Batch ’96 points, while Franklin Ong added 12 markers.

Meanwhile, Randy Sypongco piled up 19 points, eight rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block to help Batch ‘86/90s/2000s pocket its third win in four games with a 74-68 win over Batch 1998-Kaking.
