Shabu worth P74,800 seized; 4 nabbed in suspected drug den in Brgy Labangon
CEBU CITY, Philippines – A report made by a concerned citizen led authorities to shut down another suspected drug den in Cebu City and arrest four drug suspects.
The suspected drug den was located in Sitio Andang in Barangay Labangon.
Leia Alcantara, spokesperson of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas (PDEA-7) , said that their most recent operation stemmed from a report made by a concerned citizen about suspicious activities happening in the area.
PDE-7, in coordination with the Cebu Police Provincial Office and personnel of the Labangon Police Station, spent two days for their case buildup before they planned the buy-bust operation at dawn on Friday, October 6.
Law enforcers arrested Julibeth Gabutin, the alleged drug den maintainer, and three of her alleged visitors. They were identified as electrician Allen Naveja, 47; mechanic Abner Sesaldo, 35; and barber Lot Baron, 41.
PDEA-7 agents also confiscated 11 grams of suspected shabu worth P74,800; the buy-bust money; a cellular phone; and various drug paraphernalia.
Alcantara said that the drugs were already submitted for chemical analysis.
Gabutin, according to Alcantara, is able to dispose at least 25 grams of shabu per week to visitors of her drug den.
The arrested persons are now detained at the Labangon Police Station. Authorities will most likely file complaints for the sales and possession of illegal drugs; maintaining, working, and visiting a drug den; and possession of drug paraphernalia against them, she said. / dcb
