A brother of a Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) player jumped off the viewing deck of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) after being detained for a week on rape charges.

Joven Poligrates, brother of Eliud Poligrates of the Kia Carnival team in the PBA, sustained a deep gash on his head after jumping off the 12-feet high viewing deck at the CPDRC at 4:50 p.m., Saturday.

Poligrates was brought to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) where he is confined at the hospital’s trauma center.

Capitol jail consultant Marko Toral said Poligrates, a native of Camotes Island in Cebu, was transferred from Poro police precinct to the CPDRC  for a week already.

Poligrates had been depressed inside the CPDRC since he was transferred from Poro. His fellow inmates said Poligrates would oftentimes tell them about his innocence and his wife’s rape late in the evening until midnight.
