Agency needs more personnel for second round of poor household assessment

The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Central Visayas is preparing for the conduct of its Listahanan’s second round of poor household assessment in April and May.

Starting this month, the government agency will be hiring 3,471 field personnel who will assess the poor households in the region, DSWD-7 Regional Director Mercedita Jabagat said.

Those hired will work as area coordinators, area supervisors, enumerators, verifiers and encoders.

In Central Visayas, the DSWD will assess more than one-million households.

Cebu has a target of 524,717 households, Negros Oriental has 240,134, Bohol has 232,625 and Siquijor has 18,794.

“Through the Listahanan, we will be able to objectively identify who and where the poor are in the country and the result of our assessment will be our basis in identifying potential beneficiaries of our social protection programs and services,” Jabagat said.

“Our trained enumerators will visit the target household and will assess their socio-economic profile,” Jabagat added.

The household will be assessed based on their composition, the household members’ highest educational attainment and occupation, features of the housing structure and access to basic services or facilities like water, electricity, and sanitary toilet, household’s ownership of assets, tenure status of housing, among others.

“I urge families to stay in their house once we deploy our enumerators to their area or at least there should be one family member who can answer the questions from our enumerators,” Jabagat said.
