CEBU CITY, Philippines— The Titans stunned the favored Nation Paints, 81-74, to hoist the Cebu Architects Basketball Club (CABC) Boysen Cup 2023 title last Sunday, December 10, at the Benedicto College-Cebu City Campus gym.
The eventual ‘Most Valuable Player,’ Kimboy Marilano, top-scored for the Titans with 20 points in their title-clinching win. He also tallied nine rebounds, one shy of recording a double-double game, and grabbed three steals in his stellar on-court performance.
Pido Sanchez finished with 18 points, while Jojo Anelasgon had 13 markers, and Chester Hinagdanan added 12 points for the Titans. Anthony Bajenting and Sokrates Nagel scored 22 and 21 points, respectively, for Nation.
John Therese Buhawe had a double-double game of 15 points and 13 rebounds as Nation Paints got off to a strong 24-15 start.
However, the Titans completely turned the tables in their favor by grabbing a commanding 14-point lead, 66-52, in the second half.
They went on to survive several comeback attempts by Nation in the final quarter to finish the game with a seven-point cushion.
BATTLE-FOR-THIRD
Meanwhile, Knoxout eked out a hard-fought 97-94 victory against Permacoat to finish third in the tournament organized by Boysen Paints, headed by Miggy Aparri and Stanley Ong.
Kurtian Damandaman tallied a game-high 28 points for Knoxout, while teammates Darren Morandante and Carlos Baltazar scored 24 and 25 points, respectively.
