Maguikay Brgy Captain Gumera finally proclaimed winner of barangay elections
MANDAUE CITY, Philippines — After more than a month, Maguikay Barangay Captain Eduardo Gumera Sr. was finally proclaimed winner of the last Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections.
Gumera on Wednesday, December 13, was proclaimed by Jomar Caborog, Barangay Board of Canvassers chairman and Maguikay National High School principal, at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) office in Barangay Centro.

Petition to disqualify caused delay in proclamation
Before the proclamation, Caborog read the order from Comelec to reconvene the Maguikay Barangay Board of Canvassers with an attached copy of the order lifting the suspension of the proclamation of Gumera and finally proclaimed him as the winner.
Gumera was joined by the barangay council members and supporters who witnessed the proclamation.
Gumera’s proclamation was postponed due to a petition to disqualify his candidacy filed by his political opponents who accused him of molesting a 15-year-old girl last year which was denied by Gumera. The BSKE was conducted last October 30.

Confident petition will be dismissed

Salamat,” said Gumera.
(I am so happy. I am so grateful, first, to the Lord, then to Congresswoman Ouano-Dizon for her support, and to all our supporters and to all of the people of Maguikay for trusting in me. I will work hard to give what I can give and whatever I can do, I will give my all. Thank you.)
