A DVD vendor was critically wounded after he was shot by the caretaker of a commercial building where the victim was a tenant in barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City last Monday noon.
Muhammad Truman was rushed to Chong Hua Hospital in Cebu City with a gunshot wound in the neck.
The suspect, Jose Diores, 74, was arrested after the incident and detained at the Subangdaku police station.
A .357 revolver with four bullets was recovered from his possession.
Police said Truman rents a space in the building for the sale of DVDs.
He failed to pay rent for the past three months. Diores went to see the tenant and demanded that he pay up.
When Truman did not pay, Diores asked him to vacate the space.
This time, the tenant allegedly threatened that something bad would happen to the caretaker.
Police said an irked Diores drew a gun and shot the tenant.
The victim was taken to the hospital.
Diores stayed in the building where the shooting happened and was then arrested by Mandaue city police.
