Davide ‘happy’ with SC decision

GOV. Hilario Davide III said he was pleased with the Supreme Court decision declaring the oil exploration in the Tañon Strait unconstitutional.

“It’s a fortunate that Tañon Strait still has a lot of fish. Here in the  Visayan Sea, even the corals are destroyed,” Davide said.

In 1998, President Fidel V. Ramos declared Tañon Strait through the Proclamation No. 1234 as the biggest seascape, protected marine life in the country.

Tañon Strait is located between the islands of Cebu and Negros.
