CEBU CITY, Philippines — The City Traffic Management System (CTMS) in Lapu-Lapu City has issued a traffic advisory for the upcoming Ironman 70.3 Lapu-Lapu on April 21, 2024.

The CTMS will implement full closure on roads that were identified as the route of the international triathlon event.

Among the affected roads include Suba Panas corner Suba-Basbas, Marigondon Intersection, Maribago Intersection, Mactan Intersection, MEPZ-1 Gate 3, Lapu-Lapu City Hall Flyover, and the First Mactan-Mandaue Bridge.

This closure aims to facilitate the smooth execution of the activity, ensuring the safety of both participants and spectators.

From Lapu-Lapu City, athletes will go straight to Cordova town. The activity will start from 4:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Due to this, CTMS advised Oponganons to plan their routes accordingly, utilizing alternative roads to avoid inconvenience during the designated closure period.

Meanwhile, Congresswoman Cindi King-Chan also urged the Department of Public Works and Highway (DPWH) 6th Engineering District Office to inspect the route of the Ironman to ensure its smooth operation.

She also ordered the City Veterinary Office to handle stray dogs during the event.

Currently, around 1,343 athletes from 54 countries have already registered to compete in the event.
