The regional Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Central Visayas (CIDG-7) said it is intensifying their campaign against loose firearms in preparation for next year’s elections.

In a mountain barangay in Danao City, northern Cebu, several firearms and ammunition worth nearly P195,000 were seized in a joint operation that resulted in the arrest of gun shop owner Dexter Pasaje in sitio Mariz, Kahumay-humayan, Danao City last Sunday afternoon.

Three cohorts managed to escape. Various gun parts including magazines and barrels for .45 pistols were seized. Pasaje is now detained pending the filing of charges of illegal firearms possession.

Col. Fermin Armendarez, CIDG-7 team leader, said they conducted a one-week surveillance of the area prior to the raid.
