Marcos: We have no intention to attack anyone with water cannon

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday thumbed down proposals of putting water cannons on Philippine vessels patrolling the West Philippine Sea.

Asked in an ambush interview in Pasay City about his reaction to such plans, Marcos said “no.”

“What we are doing is defending our sovereign rights and our sovereignty in the West Philippine Sea and we have no intention of attacking anyone with water cannons or any other such offensive, I mean you have to call them weapon kasi nakaka damage na (because it is causing damage already),” said Marcos.

The Chinese Coast Guard in May blasted Philippine vessels anew with water cannons.
