J-BOP Pagnanawon prevailed over his brother Jhunvie to emerge champion in the men’s open/elite division of the 1st Kopiko Cycling Circuit yesterday at the Lantaw Restaurant in South Road Properties, Cebu City.
It was a one-two finish for the sons of 1986 Marlboro Tour champion Rolando “Boy” Pagnanawon with J-Bop ruling the 28-kilometer, 10-lap grind.
Earning 10 points yesterday, J-Bop ended the three-leg competition with 27 points, while Jhunvie came in second with 24 points. A distant third was Elmer Navarro, who tallied eight points.
On the other hand, Dadong Carcueva clinched the category C title after collecting 20 points. He was followed by Teodoro Tumulak who netted 14 points despite failing to land in the top five in yesterday’s contest. Frank Alindao, the final leg second-placer, finished third with 12 points.
One-handed cyclist Joseph Rex Gonzales also made his presence felt as the former Marlboro Tour campaigner dominated the golden division with 27 points.
Rommy Sanchez, who finished second behind Gonzalez yesterday, also wound up second overall with 24 points, while veteran Marlboro Tour campaigner Gregorio Gabato came in third with 13 points.
The HG division was dominated by Agustin Redusta, who accumulated 25 points. Maximo Creus, the final leg champion, settled for second with 18 points followed by Rafael Ramos with 14 points.
Meanwhile, 15-year-old Ana Patricia “Ica” Maximo snatched the overall crown in the women’s open category despite missing leg two when she competed in the Fil-Chi Bike Challenge in Pasay City.
