THE Rain or Shine Elasto Painters pulled off a dominating 123-85 win over expansion team Blackwater Elite last night in the 40th PBA Governors’ Cup at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The Elasto Painters posted a much-needed win in what has been a sloppy showing in the season-ending conference.
It was only Rain or Shine’s second in six games as it snapped a two-game slide to tie the NLEX Road Warriors, defending champions Star Hotshots and Barangay Ginebra Kings for the eighth to 10th spots.
Rain or Shine led from start to finish, using an enrelenting attack to deal Blackwater its worst loss in its young history.
Blackwater tasted its third straight loss and sixth overall with only one win to show.
Mired at the bottom of the standings, Blackwater is now in danger of being eliminated for the third straight conference in their maiden season.
Rain or Shine started the game on a 19-4 attack and cruised from that point on.
Blackwater actually stayed within eight points after the first period, but Rain or Shine broke the game wide open in the second and led by a mile at the half, 61-35, Rain or shine had a balanced attack with five Elasto Painters scoring in double figures.
Import Wendell McKines and Jervy Cruz finished with 15 points apiece. Paul Lee contributed 12 points, Jeff Chan added 12, while TY Tang and Beau Belga added 11 and 10, respectively.
Marcus Douthit led the way for Blackwater with 14 markers
