Dewfoam, La Nueva stay alive

BATCH 1988-Dewfoam and Batch 1995-La Nueva Pharmacy staved off outright elimination after they

downed their respective higher-ranked opponents at the start of the quarterfinal round of the

Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association (Cecaba) 14th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup

at the CEC Gym last Saturday.
The eighth-seed Batch 1988 humbled the fifth-ranked Batch 2007-Chef Chang, 69-62, while the

seventh-seed Batch 1995-La Nueva Pharmacy likewise forced a do-or-die battle after it tripped

the sixth-ranked Batch 1986/1990s/2000s, 71-65.
Batch 2007 and Batch 1986/1990s/2000s hold twice-to-beat edges in the two series.
Gregorio Aguilar and Harry Villamor came up big in the elimination game for Batch 1988 as

the duo finished with 17 and 16 points with Ricky Yu contributing 12.
Juan Carlo Espada paced Batch 2007 with 25 points, while Alejandro Bayer Jr. added 15.
Joseph Yu and Donald Anthony Ting helped Batch 1995 stay alive by combining for 50 points.

Dean Dy Teves added 12 markers.
Aljhune Areja paced Batch 1986/1990s/2000s with 23 points, while Randy Sypongco and Cris

Jake Alvez pitched in 15 and 10, respectively.
