A 23-YEAR-OLD man was fatally shot by his older brother, while another man was also stabbed by his older brother in two bloody incidents last Monday night in Toledo City, southwest Cebu.
In barangay General Climaco, Bryan Venanel was shot dead inside his house by his 43-year-old brother Abundio.
Police said the victim was playing with his cellphone inside their house when Abundio arrived and shot him in the head and body.
Abundio fled after the attack.
Bryan was brought to the Toledo City Hospital but was declared dead by the attending doctor.
PO3 Carlos Barluado, desk officer of the Toledo Police precinct, said the attack may have been triggered by the rumors alleging that the victim had a relationship with his brother’s wife.
Police said that prior to the shooting, Abundio and his wife Anita figured in a fight where the woman was mauled by her husband.
In barangay Poblacion, Luchie Tomarong Bularin, 29, was repeatedly stabbed by his brother Dondon, 35.
After attacking his brother, Dondon also stabbed himself in the abdomen.
The two men were brought to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.
Prior to the incident, the two brothers argued over the money sent to them by their sister who is working abroad, said police.
Luchie was brushing his teeth when Dondon attacked him with a kitchen knife, police said.
