A MALE airline passenger bound for Iloilo City was arrested by authorities at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) for having two bullets in his bag at past noon last Monday, June 8.

Chief Supt. Pablo Francisco Balagtas, Aviation Security Group (Avsegroup) director, said the 31-year-old passenger identified as Kim Tejana was arrested for allegedly concealing two automatic rifle bullets, each of a different caliber, inside a small toiletry bag.

Balagtas said the Office for Transport Security, the airport police, and the Avsegroup Central Visayas detected the bullets during the initial security screening at the MCIA domestic area.

He said the bullets were found in a small bag mixed in with Tejana’s personal items.

The suspect could not present any document to justify his possession of the ammunition.

Tejana was arrested and charged in the Lapu Lapu City prosecutor’s office for  violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Balagtas said airline passengers should not carry banned items in their luggage to avoid inconvenience./Inquirer
