THE 1985 Androids-Aceite de Manzanilla was peerless after the elimination round as it swept all eight of its games in Division 1 action in the University of San Carlos North Alumni Basketball Conference Summer League last weekend at the USC North Campus gym.
Buoyed by the 39 points of former pro Lou Regidor, the Androids beat the 1988 Barakos, 75-67, to end up with an 8-0 (win-loss) card after the eliminations.
Bing Pua added 16 in the lopsided game as the Androids head to the quarterfinals, where they will meet the 1984 Knights, who lost to the 1993 Dragons, 46-62.
The Dragons ended the round with a 7-1 card and will take on the 1987 Bro in the next round.
The Bro ended the eliminations on a whimper after losing to the 1986 Mighty Geeks, 54-65.
The other quarters pairings will see the Barakos face off versus the Bai 1991 while the Mighty Geeks square off against the 1990 Titans-Modern Solutions.
In Division 2, the 1999ers snatched the second seed after they beat the 1996 Chubbies, 76-55.
Both the 1999ers and the 1994 Bulldogs ended up tied with identical 7-1 records but the latter grabbed the top seed by virtue of the winner-over-the-other rule.
In other games, Sipat 1998 routed the 1997 Ronins, 65-40, while the 1995 Pirates slipped past the Faculty Warriors, 65-59.
This sets up quarters matches between the 1999ers and the Pirates, the Bulldogs and the Chubbies, the 2000 Millennium and the Sipat, and 2001 Dos Mil Uno-Lite Shipping and the Ronins.
