The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has filed criminal and administrative charges against two policemen who were allegedly responsible for the death of an 11-year-old street child, Chastity Mirabiles.

PO2 Raymonito Mesa and PO2 Manuel Luis Sejano were charged with murder and grave misconduct before the Office of the Ombudsman in the Visayas.

Mesa was pointed to by at least two witnesses as the one who mauled her and Chastity last April 5. Sejano, who drove the patrol car when Chastity was accosted, was accused of conspiring with Mesa.

Also impleaded by the NBI was Chief Insp. Wildemar Tiu who allegedly instructed another witness to tell a lie to clear his men.

NBI Assistant Director Augusto Isidoro said Tiu appeared before the NBI and presented three witnesses to clear his men.

However, one of the witness told the NBI investigators that they were requested by Tiu to fabricate statements in order to clear Mesa and Sejano.

While Tiu was charged with obstruction of justice and grave misconduct.
