Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III assured that the Liberal Party in Cebu Province remains strong and that the pledge of support of Alayon party members for LP will not cause division.

San Fernando Mayor Antonio Canoy of LP has announced his candidacy as first district representative of Cebu and his opponent will either be incumbent first district Rep.Gerald Anthony ‘Sam-Sam’ Gullas or Sam-Sam’s grandfather, former first district representative Eduardo Gullas who is the head of Alayon.

Davide said he is grateful that Alayon members have manifestated their support for LP.

But he is certain that Alayon would understand that LP will support Canoy.

“They belong to the Liberal Party, so naturally, logically, provincial leaders will support LP members.  They (Alayon) said that we have an LP member in the district and I’m sure they understand,” he said.

Of the mayors of the 44 towns and seven cities in Cebu Province, 33 mayors belong to the LP.
