New lot eyed for school

The Cebu City Council authorized Mayor Michael Rama to negotiate and purchase a lot for the Sapangdaku Elementary School.

The school is located along a river which has been identified as a flood-prone area by the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB).

Councilor Nendell Hanz Abella cited an incident last year in which the students were evacuated to the barangay hall after the nearby river overflowed from constant rainfall.

Lot owners Virgilio Chua and Michael Chua offered to sell a lot measuring 3,621-square meters at P5,000 per square meter to the Cebu City Local School Board.

The council also requested the Cebu City Appraisal Committee to conduct an appraisal on the lot to determine its fair market value.
