3 arrested for peddling fake gold bars, golden buddha

Police arrested three persons for selling fake gold bars and a golden Buddha in a resort in Compostela town, Friday night.

Mark Stone Gayrama, 33 years old, Alfonso Docenos, 32, and Bae Maria Sitawan, 37 were caught by Compotela police in an entrapment operation in Patricia Beach Resort in barangay Estaca.

The operation stemmed from a complaint filed by a barangay councilor of 5th District, Manila City Roderick Valdbuena and a Japanese national Isao Aoyama who were about to buy 12 pieces of gold bars and three pieces of golden buddha worth P4 million from the suspects.

Police recovered two fake gold bars, more than P400,000 cash, assorted identification cards, a shoulder bag, belt bag, and three units of cellphones and a women’s wallet.

The operation was led by Compostela Police in coordination with Supt. Marjon Valdehuesa of the Aviation Security Group Central Visayas (Avegroup).
