The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) seized a number of alleged fake medicines sold in five pharmacies in the cities of Cebu, Mandaue, Talisay, and Naga.
The agents led by NBI Special Investigator Florante Gaoiran conducted several raids at past 10 a.m. today. The alleged fake medicines were sold at a cheaper price compared to authentic drugs.
Representatives of each of the raided pharmacies were brought to the NBI office in Cebu City for questioning. Unilab Philippines earlier sought the NBI’s assistance to verify reports that counterfeit medicines were proliferated and sold in Cebu.
Before conducting the raid, NBI agents conducted a test buy to verify the report, said NBI-7 Asst. Director Augusto Isidoro.
