CEBU and the rest of Central Visayas will experience partly cloudy weather with the exit of typhoon Falcon from the country and tropical depression Goring moving towards Japan.

“So far there is no low pressure area (LPA) or any weather disturbances seen in our model,” weather specialist Alfredo Quiblat Jr. of Pagasa’s Mactan bureau said.

He said rains brought by the southwest monsoon winds are still expected this month although the volume is below normal due to the lingering El Niño phenomenon.

Quiblat said the average amount of rainfall is 203.7 millimeters so far, with 60 millimeters of rainfall recorded yesterday.

“In August, rainfall will be below normal or 20 percent reduction of rain while starting November, rains will be way below normal at  60 percent reduction,” he said.

For the following months the volume of rainfall will be 148.4 millimeters by August, 179.1 millimeters in September, 189.7 millimeters in October, 158.4 millimeters in November and 144.9 millimeters in December.

“Part of the forecast is that the El Niño will be strong in October to December. Rains will be below normal too. The El Niño is also expected to end by January or first quarter next year,” Quiblat said.
