THE reigning national champion University of the Visayas are set to face off against age-old nemesis Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu after they booked their seedings during the final day of the elimination round of the BEST Passerelle Tournament 2015 yesterday at the SHS-AdC basketball courts along Mango Avenue.
UV creamed the Cebu Eastern College, 60-46, behind a strong third period that boosted the Baby Lancers in front, 42-29, after leading by just five, 23-18, at halftime.
John Igot, Cholo Canada, ZJ Enriquez and Royce Alforque all performed well during that stretch to put the game away from the Dragons and seal the top seed with their 3-0 win-loss mark.
Ateneo on the other hand, got blasted by the University of San Carlos, 36-54, no thanks to a sluggish third period that saw them score just four and trail by 15, 25-40, heading to the last frame.
Briedyn Smith, King Balaga and Neon Chavez had 10 points each to pace USC who finished this round also with a clean 3-0 mark.
UV will be taking on SHS-AdC in the semis tomorrow at 11 a.m while the other final four pairing will pit USC against CEC. The winners of these matches advance to the knockout finals which will determine the Cebu champion who will go on to the Visayas regionals.
