Barangay chief dares residents to face her over Yolanda aid

THE barangay captain of Barangay Taytayan in Bogo City has dared supertyphoon Yolanda victims who complained about not receiving shelter assistance to face her.

“Palagot man na ilaha (They are making me mad). They should have just been patient and asked me because I would have gotten on the matter right away,” an irate barangay captain Teresita Ursal told Cebu Daily News.

Eleven Taytayan residents went to the Visayas Ombudsman on Thursday to ask for an investigation on why they have not received the Emergency Shelter Assistance (ESA).

They were among 935 typhoon victims from Taytayan who have allegedly not received the government assistance, set at P30,000 for destroyed houses and P20,000 pesos for partially damaged homes.

A total of 1,310 residents submitted the requirements, but only 375 received the assistance, said lawyer Ruben Yuzon./UP Cebu Intern Juli Ann M. Sibi
