The Letran Knights continue their mission for a perfect first round when they battle the Lyceum Pirates today in the 91st NCAA men’s basketball tournament at the Arena in San Juan City.
The Knights have been untouchable this season, winning their sixth game in a row with a 77-68 victory over the tough Arellano University Chiefs last Friday.
In that game, Kevin Racal continued to show that he is indeed 100% back from the knee injury he suffered last year when he scored 24 points. Rey Nambatac tallied a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds while former University of Southern Philippines-Foundation center Jomari Sollano continued his impressive rookie season with a dozen markers.
Today, the Knights face off against a Pirates squad that nearly came all the way back from a 43-point deficit against Mapua but eventually lost, 95-109.
In the curtain-raiser, the St. Benilde Blazers will be taking on the San Sebastian Stags. The Blazers, the Stags and the Pirates all share the worst record in the league at 1-5.
