Instilling good teamwork among its members will be the main goal in the first-ever sports festival of the Cebu People’s Coop dubbed as the “Inter-Color Sportfest 2015” slated Aug. 22 to Dec. 4 at the San Nicolas Parish Gym in barangay Sawang Calero, Cebu City.

Carrying the theme “My role, our feat,” the sports festival will have basketball and volleyball tournaments with a total of P200,000 in cash purse at stake.

Champion teams will each get P5,000, while P3,000 and P2,000 be given to the first and second runners-up, respectively.

The sportsfest will have 14 teams coming from the 13 branches of Cebu People’s Coop.

“We want to emphasize teamwork. We want to strengthen the relationship of each and every single employee of Cebu People’s Coop through this sports festival and we are very excited to start it off,” said Macario Quevedo, Cebu People’s Coop CEO and the sportsfest commissioner in yesterday’s launching at the Cebu People’s Coop office in barangay Tisa.

This will be the first time that the Cebu People’s Coop will be organizing a sports festival since it was established in 1972 with 26 members. The organization now has 19,000 members.

“Some sports really don’t establish sportsmanship, instead, the competitors which are fellow employees brought their anger outside the court and make it personal. With our sports fest on August 22, we are aiming to build a strong relationship with one another at the same time motivate each other because we know it will surely affect the work positively,” added Quevedo.
